Our very popular Sagamore Tender design has recently
been converted from hand drawn plans to CAD (Computer Aided Drafting)
for clearer, more accurate and precise drawings. Along the way, it was
freshly revised with a few enhancements that should allow builders to
construct their own Sagamore Tender is a shorter time period. The
Sagamore Tender is the very first design that I offered to the public,
and now it's a time honored, well proven classic. It was always a great
boat, and now it's even better! I personally own a Sagamore Tender that
is now several years old, and it's my favorite boat. Start building
yours today!
The Sagamore Tender is pleasing to the eye with its
classic lines. She has fine entry forward and plenty of rocker aft
such that it allows for a very easy rowing motion with little effort. It
is light weight which makes it easy to car top. The Sagamore Tender is a real
work-horse and will afford you years of rugged use. This boat will
handle a small outboard motor of around 2 to 3hp, which is sufficient
for it's intended use as a tender. However, I would rather row this
model. Seven foot oars are recommended.
Length: 11'6" The construction method employed is
what may be considered "traditional" in the modern sense of
plywood construction techniques. The good news is that almost anyone
with a little wood working experience can build the boat right from the
book and plans! Estimated building time is about a weekend for an experienced
wood worker to cut out and assemble the bare hull. People with very
little experience in working with tools may take an extra weekend or
two.
