Customer Built Sagamore Tenders


"Just wanted to let you know that I finished a Sagamore Tender last October and finally got it in the water last week. It is a sweet rowing boat. I tried it alone and with 400 lb of people and gear. In both instances the rowing was a breeze. It tracks well , is extremely stable and
just an all round pleasure to handle.

It would have been finished sooner but I "thought" the project to death. Now with some confidence in my skills, the next project will go faster. My first day on the water a spectator/fisherman asked me what I would charge to
make him one. I may never recover from that ego trip.
I had the booklet and the plans and found them very helpful.

Had fun - would build another one given only slight provocation."

"She was a pleasure to build and the results far exceeded my expectations. Everyone comments on how pretty she is, how graceful her lines are.

This morning I was out on Ninigret Pond at 6:15 and it was glass. I took my hand held GPS and without working too, too hard, I recorded max speed of 4.1 knts. But the pure pleasure of just rowing on a beautiful calm morning overcame any and all interest in measuring anything. What a way to start a day.

"Building the tender is just what I needed to carry me through the winter. I had a good warm place to work with plenty of room and the project was just enough beyond my previous experience to be exciting. The instruction book was very helpful (to be frank, essential) and complete."

"You were entirely correct about how well she rows. I have been using an old pair of short oars from a dinghy and expect a proper pair from Shaw and Tenny in a few days. If she does much better, I may be in trouble with the marine police."

This boat was built from the plans and book "How to Build the Sagamore Tender". The sail was also made by the Wainwrights from a Sailrite sail kit. The drawings for the sailing version are included in the plans.
